Where manuscripts become books.

The press

Refunds and returns.

The short version: if a book will not reach you, or reaches you spoiled, you get your money back.

In force from 13 September 2026

01Digital editions

Before payment, digital buyers expressly consent to immediate delivery and acknowledge that the change-of-mind cancellation right ends once downloading begins. We record that acknowledgement and repeat its wording in the order receipt. A downloaded file cannot be handed back, so the rule follows the download:

Not downloaded yet? Ask within 30 days and we refund it in full, no reason needed.

Already downloaded? We do not refund it, because you have the book and it carries no DRM. The one exception below still applies, always.

Faulty or undeliverable, always refunded. If the file will not download, will not open, is the wrong book, or is damaged in a way that stops you reading it, tell us and you get a working copy or your money back — downloaded or not, and with no time limit that would leave you holding a broken file.

02Printed and Kindle editions

We do not sell or post printed books, so there is nothing here for us to refund. The paperback, hardcover and Kindle editions of our titles are sold and shipped by Amazon, and a copy that arrives damaged, late, wrong or not at all is Amazon's to put right under their returns policy. They are quicker at it than we could be, and they have your order.

One thing that is still ours. If the book itself is wrong — a misprint, a missing page, a listing of ours that describes something the book is not — write to hello@danicarl.com with a photograph. We cannot refund an Amazon order, but that is a fault at our end and we will fix it at the printer so the next copy is right.

03How to ask

Write to hello@danicarl.com with your order number, which is on your receipt and on your orders page. Say what happened in a line or two. There is no form to fill in and nobody will ask you to justify yourself.

04How the money comes back

Refunds go through Stripe to the card that paid, because that is the only route back — we cannot send it anywhere else. Once we issue it, your bank usually takes five to ten working days to show it. Any delivery charge you paid is refunded too when the fault was ours.

05Payments that never completed

If you leave checkout, or a card is declined, nothing is charged and the unfinished order cancels itself. Occasionally a bank shows a pending authorisation for a day or two; it falls off on its own. If a charge you did not expect ever appears, write to us straight away.

06Your legal rights

None of the above replaces the rights your local consumer law gives you. Where that law says you may cancel or must be refunded, it wins over anything written here.
